Story behind the song
It is the middle of the Lenten season. Mardi Gras is over. St. Patrick's Day is just another excuse to party --for some people. Well, rejoice! Easter is only a few weeks away. This is a song that we usually sing at the end of communion, or instead of the canticle. It is #267 in the African American Heritage Hymnal from GIAmusic.com in the key of F. I've lowered it to Eb, the key in which I've been playing it in churches for years. As usual, keyboardist Chuck Abernethy explores simple rhythm, style and texture in this electric piano and drum (machine) "duet." Enjoy the music. I know that I know that I know... ...who saved us from sin and death and the grave: Jesus Christ, the Son of of the living God! Have a Happy Easter celebrating the resurrection of Christ the Lord this year and always.
