Singer/songwriter of acoustic & country music.
I am a singer songwriter but mostly a songwriter. I write country music and play at writer's nights in Nashville, Tennssee. I have been writing since I was in High School in 1978. I have written over 400 songs over the years and try to write songs about real life that have a little depth and meaning instead of the usual fluff heard on most radio stations.

Story behind the song
My sister works at a childrens shelter and she has told me some of the heartbreaking stories of the kids that come threw there. So I had them in mind when I wrote this.
Lyrics
Son of Junkie I sneak my finger in the cookie dough Filled with chocolate chips Moms bakin and the airs so sweet And those beaters need to be licked But it's just a dream I'll never taste I made up in my head There's a needle by my mothers arm She's passed out on the bed Chorus: I'm the son of a junkie An accident in life A burden to the one I love Morning, noon and night I don't understand whats goin on I'm just trying to survive That's a great big load to carry around When your only five Someone kicked our front door in Just like on TV Took my mom and her boyfriend and now their after me But Grandma came and saved the day Took me to her home I don't have to worry now Together were not alone Chorus: I'm the son of a junkie An accident in life I found love in Grandma's eye's And a red mountian bike We see mom on saturday's She's gettin by alright That's a great big load to carry around When your only five Tag: I sneak my finger in the cookie dough Filled with chocolate chips Grandma's bakin and the airs so sweet Those beaters need to be licked! copyright 2003 Troy Ross ASCAP
