Story behind the song
Actually a famous sax player from a world reknown Jersey rock band inspired the first part because of a new marriage back in the early 1980's. The second part was just a little thing that came out of nowhere while I was fooling around on my Wurlitzer electric piano after writing the first part. I put the two together back then, but this is the most recent version of it.
Lyrics
INSPIRATION/LOVE IN A BAG music & lyrics by Sam Cooper copyright 2003 People, you can try for those things you desire, you just need some inspiration. Just sing like your soul is in the heart of a great gospel choir…sing with some inspiration. Now the only way that man can survive, Is to realize what joy it is to be alive, Got some inspiration, You got to have an inspiration. (chorus) I’ve got your love in a bag, I ain’t gonna let it slip out, I’ve got your love in a bag, Whoa, that brings me luck and that’s what I’m all about. My lucky seven comes up time after time when I know you’re right by my side. It’s true, I’ll never lose, but chance ain’t the answer, Long as you’re in my sack, I can let it ride…(chorus) I don’t go foolin’ around with no other women, I ain’t no rat while the cat’s away, Your love means more to me than a diamond jubilee, And if they ask what’s in my sack, I’ve got to say…(chorus). (bridge) I’m smooth at cards, but I’m lucky at love, You fit my style, like a hand fits a glove, Now that I’ve got you, I don’t need no rap, Just the catch I caught in my tender trap…(solo section) I’m not possessive, but I don’t budge an inch when I know I’ve got something good, And since I found you, I’ve been tryin’ so hard, To keep your love in my little brown bag like I know I should…(chorus and vamp)
