Story behind the song
Would like to have a good conversation on taxes so we can get the country moving. However, it's hard to when the richest of the rich say they're being "bled dry" and "class warfare" yet they offshore their profits to hide from the IRS while claiming to pay their fair share. 52,000 Americans offshored almost 20 billion. That's almost $400,000 per person. Are you really paying your fair share when you hide $400,000 to avoid taxes?
Lyrics
Last Stand of the 52 Grand Verse 1: Let me tell a little story for everyone ?Bout rich folks and tax evasion Offshore your profits and you?ll never pay That?s what these 52,000 say. Not sure what court order means 20 billion hidden by our Swiss friends Untouchable profits by any man Right next to the Nazi war contraband Verse General: You want our taxes? Come ?n? get ?em You want the money? Come ?n? get it Hid behind International lines Good luck good hope this is the way it?s always been Chorus: Last stand of the 52 grand We gotta Make a stand in Miami land Everyone else has to pay We?re too big to fail that?s what they say Last stand of the 52 grand You?re not One of us so your job will be canned You thought That you weren?t trash But that?s Another thought when we?re taking your cash Verse 2: We all want to know who?s to blame for it If you stop and think for just a little bit It?s not the ones with nothing now It?s the one who made millions they make billions now. Not to say we?re upset when a man makes money But when he takes from me says he ain?t got none. Soaring phoenix calling tax fire funny Taxes? Taxes? That?s a burden for you to take. Voices of the 52,000? ?Cash! Cash! And you want to blame your neighbors? Well, as long as they?re not blaming us. That?s what I?m trying to say.?
