The Simon McGinnes Trio first performed regularly at the legendary Sugar Club in Dublin, Ireland starting in 1998, featuring Will Lacombre on guitar and Jim McGill on drums. After US-based musical excursions in South Carolina and Georgia, Simon returned to home territory in 2006 both geographically and musically. The present trio line-up features established and experienced groovers Peter Hellier on guitar (Don Weller, Charlie Hearnshaw, Pete Jacobsen, Don Rendell, Kathy Stobart) and Dave Sheen on drums. Our repertoire is drawn from the best of retro '60s and '70s jazzy and funky classics, including jazz grooves, intimate ballads, latin favourites and funky down-home blues.
