Gary Comeau recorded and released "Another Broken Lullaby" in 1999. The recording was comprised of vocals and acoustic guitar, both by Gary, recorded live in a chapel. In January 2009, I took these songs and added drums, electric guitars and bass to them, plus a few little production tricks. Also a keyboard track on "Travellin' Way too Heavy." This was all done quickly and cheaply on a PC. Adding drums AFTER a song has already been recorded (without a click track!) is a recipe for disaster. Also, I'm not a drummer and I used drum pads! So the songs shuffle along haphazardly, I'm sure, and it's all kinda "washy" and lo-fi. All the same, from a creative standpoint,I'm happy with the parts I've added, and I think the songs still have a charm to them. I hope it comes through!

Story behind the song
(*This is a remix from March, with Jaguar replacing Strat track) This is the first song I gave this treatment to and is one of my favorites of Gary's. This version has perhaps more of an 'alternative rock' treatment than most of the the others, and is possibly closer to the way I'd normally play than most of these. Having said that, I was still "new" at adding drums and stuff to a finished song, so it's got a very "loose" feel, especially on the drums. Used a Strat on this one, actually. I let Gary's parts come out more on this one, and just added echo to his parts in certain parts. I like the bass part.
