Story behind the song
When I graduated high school in 1988, the north-south Sudan war was escalating Southerners were forced to flee their homes, many were killed and abducted by Arab militias supported the Government. I began traveling to the displacement camps with my guitar, where i would play songs for the people to uplift their spirits. Shen-Shen summed up the suffering i witnessed in the displacement camps. In 1994, I was arrested on stage at the Khartoum Sixth International Festival for singing Shen-Shen, because the Security Forces claimed Shen-Shen was inciting the Southern Rebellion.

The voice of the innocent blood cries out with heartrending insistants in the heart of the person who killed it. Peace is possible if it's truely willed, if peace is possible it is a duty. Reconciliation is the way to peace,but the first and indespensible reconciliation is the reconciliation with God. True peace must be founded upon the sense of the intengible dignity of man.
