Story behind the song
I wrote the music for this when I was a teenager; it was originally just a guitar piece. I've been playing for fun with Todd and Tom Trottier for years, and we finally decided to become big time songwriters, so Todd added the lyrics and we stumbled on the intro and outro, using a part from the middle. Here it is.

When will I find the words

Ain’t that always the way.
Am7 Bm9 G
Your best friend is gone and it hasn’t been long

G G9 E9 EbM7 G G9 E9 Cm G
I’m here by the phone
G Am7 Bb6 C Bb6
It seems a year since you’ve gone
I still don’t know what went wrong
I wrestle thoughts in my sleep
But I don’t know what they mean
Or if its you in my dream
I walk into town and I wander around, and I shop at our favorite store.
But you don’t go there no more
I’m here by the phone
Bridge

What in the world would I do if you shouldn’t call on me
Em D
And what in the world would I do if I let too much time go by.
C D G
Would I sit here and pout should I wait it out
C D A G A
Should I call it a day and be on my way
C D G
And I think to myself I should call you
