Story behind the song
When my dad was in the hospital for his heart surgery, one moment stood out more than any other. He reached his hand out for me to grab his. He couldn't speak because he had a breathing tube in. It was a grip to say "I love you son". My dad always had strong and skilled hands. His hands taught me how hard work is done and the pride that from that hard work; work in building things and playing music. His grip to say "I love you" solidified all those moments that I learned who my dad was; a man of deep commitment, pride, and love to his family. Thank you Dad for the hands that I feel I now have, and for all you have done for me. You can be sure these lessons will go on. I love you so very deeply.
