Collaboration with the talented Singer/songwriter Jennifer Pearl
melodic piano soundtrack relaxing mood world peaceful
Artist picture
My music is a collage of world themes and sounds. It is often peaceful and it sounds like it would belong in a movie soundtrack.
I was born in Logan Utah. When I was three my family moved to Olympia Washington. My parents introduced me to their antique upright piano when I was five years old, and my love for the piano began. When I was ten my parents separated and I moved to Seattle, Washington with my mother and away from the piano. The next year I was given my first keyboard and I began to compose my first melodies. When I was 14 I moved back in with my dad and was reunited with the piano. In the years that followed I continued to create music on the piano. In early 2000 I got my first Roland synthesizer and began exploring different world music themes. In the ensuing years I expanded my repertoire and produced sixteen CDs. In 2005 my mother gifted me my very own piano. My music can best be described as melodic, emotional, and varied. My other passion is fine art. Since I was old enough to hold a pencil I was drawing mountains and nature landscapes. My band name is derived from my love of painting. All cover art is from my original paintings. The painting on the cover of 'What it Is to Love' was inspired by a trip to the Olympic Rain Forest in Washington State.

Story behind the song
This is our first collaboration together and I am very blessed to have had the opportunity to create this beautiful song with Jennifer Pearl.
Lyrics
You found me when I'd lost my spark But with patience forced me out of the dark Your spirit led me to a better place And when I remember your embrace, I... I find peace amongst the grass And I feel the warmth of the wind I'll make memories that last And promise to love with all I have The world seems so different to me Since your love set my soul free You made this life a better place And when I remember your face, I... I find peace amongst the grass And I feel the warmth of the wind I'll make memories that last And promise to love with all I have Oh your light's still shining on me As I walk through this life, you're the air I breathe I wish our time hadn't been so short You could have taught me so much more But I know you're in a better place So when I remember your grace, I... I find peace amongst the grass And I feel the warmth of the wind I'll make memories that last And promise to love with all I have

Too beautiful, and Jennifer's vocals excellent match for the instrumentation, gentle and sweet, she reminds me a bit of Tina Arena, one of my faves. Excellent job all around, loving every minute of it, production arrangement and mix.

This is a beautiful song, very mellow and soothing. Jennifer Pearl's voice is wonderful. Its very well composed. I think it would fit in well for a film score. The production is top notch. I left a review in the Critic's Corner at 'Blue Collar Reviews' for this. Will be looking for more collabs from the two of you.

Right on the money! Outstanding in every way. I had a little trouble hearing the lyrics. Maybe tweak the mix a tad. Jenifer's voice is so good... I want to hear every word! A+++ Kevin

Hi Ian, had a listen to promise to love and thought I'd make a couple of observations - beautiful song, and beautifully sung. Jen's voice seems to be in the same space as the piano and is a little hard to pick out the words. There seems to be some 'air' or high frequencies missing in the recording of her voice. The drums also sit in the same space - perhaps they could be spread a little wider in the stereo field. Sorry to nitpick but I thought this was something you may like some feedback on!! - John
