The unbearable misery of having been given up upon
Singer-songwriter, pop-rock, harmony...
Someday, you will be able to go to http://www.DavidLoeb.com and find a lot more music, video and whatever... but today it'll probably just bump you to a "David Harlow" CD page at CDBaby.com. The "David Harlow" thing (the 3 rocked-up songs) was something of a joint project between myself and my friend David Hardman that we made when we were both in Nashville. He produced it and played ALL the music except for regular drums. I sang all the vocals and wrote the songs. Brad Jones engineered/mixed, Jim DeMain mastered.
Story behind the song
Wanting to sleep to avoid a miserable reality.
This recording (1 of 3 songs) and its production was something of a collaboration. I wrote the songs and sang them while my friend David Hardman played all instruments but drums and produced it. This was all while he and I were both living in Nashville. Brad Jones (Jill Sobule, etc) mixed and Jim DeMain mastered it.
Lyrics
Lay Me Down to Sleep
Love, come and save me,
come save me from this scene
Love, come and save me,
it's getting very mean
Love, come and take me,
in your arms so kind
Love, come and save me,
come ease my troubled mind
Love, come and save me,
I have no place to turn
Love, come and save me,
my bridges all have burned
Love, no one's paid me,
the wages I have earned
Love, come and save me,
I pray for your return
And Love, you're an angel,
you're the only hope I see
Love, be my angel,
won't you lay me down to sleep,
down to sleep,
lay me down to sleep
Love, I remember, a time when I was strong
Love, I remember, a world that now is gone
Love, please believe me, I'm singing my last song
Love, please retrieve me, the curtain's being drawn
And Love, you're an angel...
