A one-man-band with all-original material, writing, composing and performing since 2005.
My name is Evan Schafer. I am an independent (or "indie") musician with a strong grounding in traditional composition, but I like to think my material always has a unique and individual flair. I guarantee not being bored out of your gourd when turning on one of the records. I produce, mix, and engineer everything myself, and have done so since late 2005.

Story behind the song
Evan Schafer - drum loop, keyboards, bass, vocals "The Light" came to me at a very pivotal time during the Dive recording sessions. I was severely caught up in the writing process, as I had previously been with that old album of mine called Maya, and decided it was time for a break. However, before I took that break from songwriting and delayed the release of the record for more than a month, I wrote one final lyric under the name "The Light". Although a seemingly boring title, this track contains a powerful back-story about a man who can't get his life on track, but then an all-powerful light from nowhere leads him in the right direction. Probably one of my only songs with a true chorus, I'd like to think this track personifies me as an artist in the best possible way I can think of.
Lyrics
The tears in your eyes Blue like the falling rain You think it's such a surprise That you're falling down in pain Thunder strikes through your veins An atom bomb watch like a clock Oh, but when will it stop? Will it ever stop? There's the light Hanging over you in the day Where did it go? We've been thrown into the night Honeydew melon on the sink Who is this song really about? Are you gonna count me out This time?
