Brian Jacobs is an alternative musician with a beautiful voice, powerful lyrics, and haunting melodies
Brian Jacobs has been surrounded by music for as long as he can remember. From playing his first miniature piano at age six, Brian became a musical prodigy, winning gold medals at piano competitions at only ten years of age. After the release of Brian’s solo debut album, Untie Me (1999), he was awarded “Best New Artist of the Year” by Jam Music Magazine (2001). Now with the release of his second album, Two Faces (2002), Brian has shown just how time can change and develop a musician. Originally from Bridgewater, New Jersey, Brian grew up studying music. Along with piano lessons and singing in the school choirs, Brian developed a passion for composition at a very early age. His parents were extremely supportive of his music and they decided to enroll him in private lessons with a professor from the Juilliard School of Music in New York, NY during his high school years. Brian continued to develop his voice during this time and took part in many of the nation’s most prestigious youth choirs. He continues to study voice in college and won first place in the National Association of Teachers of Music (NATS) voice competition in April, 2001. Currently, Brian is in his fourth year at Dartmouth College (Hanover, New Hampshire) where he is studying Music and French. He will graduate on June 9, 2002 with honors and spend the next year in Lyon, France studying music and teaching English. During his four years at Dartmouth, Brian has had the opportunity to study with some of the nations most prestigious composers. He worked closely with Jon Appleton developing the music for this album and was very inspired by Appleton’s electro-acoustic music. Brian composed the music for, produced and solely recorded Two Faces. Moving away from his original solo piano/vocal work on Untie Me, Brian also uses drums, string quartet, oboe, cello and even an eighteenth-century fortepiano on this new album. He also designed the artwork for Two Faces and is the webmaster for his official website, http://www.brianjacobs.com.

Lyrics
hiding two faces behind the other one makes three remember the days when i couldn't speak my own name for fear of finding me at twenty-one years old a virgin she says she understands don't worry it's harder to explain if i say nothing but truth will only work sometimes CHORUS rape my mind i've grown up with all these lies it's changing times still it's hard to be what you don't believe caught under fire of a war that can never be won my hands my body my words are never enough to show you i'm trying to explain ignore it 'cause people often change sometimes too much it's harder to believe if they can't see me surrounded by these chains wrapping the boundaries around me CHORUS come i will lead you to the door you can find your own way home another reason to hide in the dark another chance can't you try one more time another burn the boy alive CHORUS
