Old rock band guy from the '60s. Bass player mostly in bands. Play guitar, piano & mandolin for fun. These recordings are things I've made at home.
I'm a semi-retired musician who has been playing music since the 1960s. I have mostly played bass in the bands, but I also play guitar, mandolin & piano.

Story behind the song
In 1980, the Mount Saint Helens volcano in Washington state blew its top. It rained ash on us, covering everything in sight. We were cooped-up in the house for three days until the streets got cleared and could we could all go back to work. I hung around and wrote this song on my acoustic. ...ashes on my guitar, ashes in my booze, ashes on my music, ashes all over my blues.
Lyrics
Well I looked up last Sunday, I looked up at the sky I saw a black cloud coming and I thought that I would die there were ashes falling on me and ashes on the news, Ashes in my kitchen and ashes in my booze Ashes all around me and ashes on my blue suede shoes. They say the mountain blew-up a big catastrophy the whole damn mountain blew-up and it's headed right for me. Now the ash is fallin' on me. the Sherrif's on the news, they're roundin' up the looters, they're callin' out the crews. Got ashes on my music and ashes all over my blues. Now my grass is all a-dyin' the kids can hardly breathe. My wife is inside cryin' says she wants to leave but the ash is all around us we're covered near and far, I'd like to get away now, if I could find the car! I'd have myself a brandy but they're closing down the bar... (it's an emergency, you know)
