Acoustic guitar and voice but it sounds like so much more... great songs that speak to the heart and sing from the soul
What do you get when you add one headstrong, idealistic, and extremely talented singer/songwriter who has grown up listening to a wide variety of kinds of music to a middle aged acoustic guitarist, classically trained as a musician with 35 years of playing guitar in every setting from as a solo performer to a ska band with influences from Jimi Hendrix to Michael Hedges? Then to complicate the mix, you add one more ingredient - they are daughter and father. Under normal circumstances, you'd expect an occasional song together at an open mike and a healthy distance whenever discussions of music came up. This isn't a normal circumstance. The answer to the equation is Alexis d. The tension that comes from being family brings an extra element of creativity to the music. The closeness of being family brings an almost uncanny ability to blend in harmonies and in musical direction. Alexis d has recently relocated to Santa Barbara from Albany, NY where they were a staple on the local acoustic music scene. They have opened for Patty Larkin and the Nields, have shared stages with performers as diverse as Tony Trischka and Vance Gilbert, and have headlined at nearby venues like Cafe Lena's and the Eight Step, and far-flung ones like Java Joe's in Des Moines. Dave Magnuson of The Indie Zone said "Albany, New York is definitely lucky to have talent like d visiting their local club scene. I highly recommend this CD to any folk rock fan." in his review of their debut CD. Now, they're in California and looking forward to sharing their east coast flavor with west coast audiences.

Story behind the song
the first song we wrote together
Lyrics
I've been through all kinds of strfe I've been dealing with you for my whole life What you wanted was so unreal You're so undaunted, don't care how I feel Chorus Call down thunder Call down rain Call down thunder Wash away the pain Maybe I was foolish to believe in this But I know I'm not because I miss You come back down now finally Reach the ground to stay probably Chorus Bridge I hurt too much I believed in something We could never touch And I believe in something I've been thinking about this all day You shrug and say, "it's all OK" You don't realize what's going on We're living in dusk but you think it's dawn Chorus Bridge
