The law is given and indicates what is expected of us. Ordinances, covenants and sacrifices are established. The truth is now known. Finally we realize how Holy, Just and Righteous God is... and how far we miss His perfect standard.
God's Word presented in song and verse.
in those quiet times spent alone with Him and in His Word. After nine years composing, arranging and recording... The Alpha & Omega Suite was finished at the end of 2008 and is ready for distribution in 2009! The Suite consists of thirty five parts which span two hours and forty minutes. This inspired music praises God and His Word; introduces His laws; His doctrines; His decrees; His covenants; and His grace to those who may never be exposed to His written Word otherwise. No glory, honor, or prestige is given to this earthly vessel, only to the One Who deserves it and is worthy of it!
Story behind the song
Popular thought has pivoted full-circle to where we currently accept lifestyles, opinions and philosophies which were once rightfully rejected or dismissed in times past. Occasionally this acceptance proves to be beneficial, but it can also have a dark side which is detrimental to society and to individuals. Our ethical and moral character often become the wounded casualty of this warfare between traditional values and pop-progressive thought.
As we're exposed to irresponsible and mind-numbing media sources, our thoughts and perspectives become altered and reshaped. We erroneously are admonished to question or belittle everything accepted as fact. Absolute truths are dismissed as unattainable or unknowable. We are encouraged to accept alternative opinions and viewpoints as equally valid... even if they are in direct opposition to one another! Traditions are harmful if they contradict what the current popular opinion might be. We are told we can do anything we want... as long as it doesn't hurt somebody else. A person is belittled for not tolerating that which he finds objectionable, inaccurate or wrong... even if he practices high standards in making those judgments. Entertainment sources blur the line between fantasy and reality to the point where we no longer can discern where one ends and the other begins. We view all religions as separate roadways leading to the same goal and objective. They are considered equally valid... or invalid, and are erroneously believed to worship the same god or deity.
Many of these statements reflect opinions which we either personally hold or are exposed to on a daily basis through relationships and/or various media outlets. Because we desire to fit-in; belong-to; and go-along with the crowd, we accept beliefs that our conscious often warns against and pleads to stay away from. This inward voice attempts to inform that just because an idea is popular, it is not necessarily correct or accurate. Yet, the pull of social thought is strong and compelling and easily steers our mind into directions which might have detrimental consequences on our moral and ethical character.
None of us want to believe we are ignorant, uninformed or hold wrong beliefs. We would like to think that being educated means we know truth and reject falsehood. Our assumption is that as society progresses, our capacity to know right from wrong increases proportionately with our increased knowledge. We believe that opinions endorsed in universities and higher-learning centers must be more accurate and correct than opinions held by the less educated. It is by unconditionally accepting politically correct viewpoints and issues that we set ourselves up for possessing "eyes that see but are blind to the truth."
A popular view states "we cannot know absolute truth." Logically, this means there cannot be any universal standard of right or wrong behavior as well. If there are no absolutes then we can do anything we want. How can we know if our beliefs and practices are wrong? Is there any supreme 'yardstick of truth' that can be used to measure social issues?
If we have an inner voice which becomes offended at unjust or inhumane actions, then we know God's moral standard is awake in our heart. And if God has placed a sense of morality within our inner self then we should learn more about other revelations of truths He has given us. When we honestly look for a source of universal and timeless truths, we are lead to His written Word… which never attempts to tickle our ears and tell us what we want to hear. Instead, it exposes the false; reveals the truth; convicts us of wrong; and admonishes us to turn and change our ways!
This insightful Word of God states there are definite absolutes and universal truths which we all should live by. It shows there are some things which are morally wrong and others which are ethically right. It admonishes to live according to guidelines which God has set in place. These moral truths
Lyrics
(Verse 1)
While wandering 'cross the sand, Guidance came by Your skilled hand.
You opened our eyes to understand, How to be children of Abraham.
Freed from Pharaoh's brand. Longing for the new land.
Light shown through Your command. And it was all within Your plan.
Insight added to what we saw. You have given of Your law.
Parted the sea, Showed where to flee, Gave Your decree.
(Verse 2)
It is etched in stone. Direction has been shown.
It is etched in stone. By your blood we are atoned.
We are not our own. We belong to You alone.
This world is not our home. You have taught us how to live.
Forever showing how to give. No longer held captive.
We take our stock, In tablets of rock, To become Your flock.
(Bridge) (Psalm 8:1-5)
Oh Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name.
You have set Your glory above heaven and earth.
From the lips of children, You have ordained praise.
When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers.
The moon and stars. What is man? That You care for him?
(Verse 3)
We are free from fear and stress. We're rescued from Adam's mess.
Your Spirit has been expressed. God's Word written on our conscienceness.
Divorced from worldly want. Protected by the covenant.
No longer follow every whim. Vision focused right on Him.
Steps trodding straight ahead. Our old ways have been shed.
Meeting our needs, Providing leads, Your Love exceeds.
(Verse 4) (John 1:17)
Your hand has set in place, Law of works and law of grace.
It transcends all time and space, 'Til we see you face to face.
No more chasm to separate. Living in this holy state.
Now we care instead of hate. Seeing life more clearly.
Turning from sin more sheerly. Feeling your grace more dearly.
And it reminds, That Your law binds, Our hearts and minds.
(Bridge) (Psalm 37:1-8)
Trust in the Lord, Do good and enjoy safe pasture.
Delight yourself in Him, and He gives you your heart's desire.
Commit your way to God, and your light shines like dawn.
Be still before the Lord, Wait patiently for His hand.
Turn from wrath, Do what will last, Follow His path.
Some things in life are certain. Some things in life are sure.
Some things in life are etched in stone.
