Story behind the song
On "Marked By Great Size", my first album with the Brobdingnagian Bards, I recorded this with an Irish-y accent and tried to pass it as semi-traditional, but honestly, this song is totally an original folk song I wrote on my autoharp, and one of my most popular songs to play. It has nothing to do with Ireland either. It actually was written as a love song that reminds me of Hawaii and even the rhythmic strum pattern was highly inspired by the Hawaiian bands Olomana and Sons of Ni'ihau.

Sounds kinda cheesy, huh? Well, liquid sunshine in Hawaii is when the rain is so soft and light that it is like rays of sunshine landing on your skin.
I love that kind of rain, and one day I was inspired by it. In brought back memories of Southern France, and the fields of lavendar, fresh breezes and hills, an the soft skin of my fiancee, water droplets, and the love of God.

"Liquid Sunshine"
words and music by Marc Gunn
A field of lavender I gaze
With the wind and the morning haze
The wind blows soft my hair
With the fragrance of the morning air
Gently I stroke your cheek
A tender touch of electricity
And the petals glow soft on your face
With shadows of silk-spun lace
In the hills I wander alone
Just a thought of my Island home
The echoing of your voice
Fills a harmony in my mind
as crystal pure
...as the liquid sunshine
The water glides off your skin
Sparkling as the purest of gems
Your eyes, they glitter and shine
Captivate my gaze in the warm sunshine
Under wings of purity, a dove
Lands soft on my shoulder with love.
She whispers words in my ear
This song, you long to hear.
