Story behind the song
A lot of churches in the Dallas area are doing more "pop" Christmas music in their church musicals. This is just my satirical protest song against the trend.
Lyrics
Went down to the church to see the Christmas Show
Bought tickets and sat on the very first row
Thought this would be a way for my friend to meet the Lord.
The lights went down and the big brass band
Played Jingle Bells in Candy Cane Land
Kids were throwin snow balls made of styrofoam
Father Christmas and a candy house
Handbells played by Mickey Mouse
Elves doing eye high kicks really stopped the show.
The people there were as thick as flies
but soon I came to realize
This show wasn't much about Jesus-what a big surprise.
I almost forgot they had the crimson one
Flying in on a wire, Santa's so fun!
We really had a good time at the Christmas Show.
They had a prophet in the show called Ebeneezer Scrooge
Singing reindeer wearing lipstick and rouge.
Carolers sang about some pudding made of figs
They had Rudolph with his lighted nose
Frosty, the Grinch and an Eskimo
Puppet shows and some do si do's
Arts and crafts, Victorian teas
Bric a Brac and Christmas trees
Ballerinas, Cinderellas, Nutcrackers and skis
I almost forgot they had the crimson one

We really had a good time at the Christmas Show.
It was a real good show filled with Christmas cheer
We'd be the first in line next year
My friend tells me he will probably die
Sometime before the 4th of July
I hate that he will miss the show
