Truly great old-style gospel and certainly Christian singers (singas!) from the Denver metropolitan area.
This band showcases some incredibly talented Denver singers on two CD's, Mommy sings God's Love Vol 1 and Old School Church Vol 1. Instrumental music is mostly by keyboardist Chuck Abernethy, who produced the CD's. MSGLV1 was released in Dec., 2008. OSCV1 was released in Sept., 2004.

Story behind the song
Another of the songs these 2 women recorded at Expozay Records in Denver in 2004. I had the great pleasure of accompanying this duo on piano as they sang "O Holy Night" on a church Christmas program in Dec., 2008. what wonderful voices with which these singer have been gifted. This song is hymn # 280 in the African American Heritage Hymnal available from GIAmusic.com Also known as "He Rose" in the Lutheran's This Far by Faith hymnal, #90. Notice the intensity of the whisical background music as they sing "An angel came from heaven..." I truly loved this song as a child.
