Story behind the song
In 2002, before it was a pay site, mp3.com decided they were not going to allow the Baked Sphincter Pie remix of our song "falsity." So they took it down. What follows, is my response to their action.
*********************************************
Listen you f*ckers.
You screw heads.
Here is a man.
Here is a man who would not take it any more.
Here is a man who stood up.
The music of break the mold has now come under scrutiny. Our work has been censured as plagiarist because of our use of audio from the film Taxi Driver. Those corporate bloodsuckers at mp3.com have banned the brilliant Baked Sphincter Pie remix of the song "falsity" because “MP3.com does not allow sample(s) from any previously published recordings.”
Just like that. And let’s not split any hairs. It's not their f*cking song. Or their f*cking movie.
This is the reality of the situation. We are not about to get into some artistic or legal pissing match over the right to a sound bite. So we will now be presenting this new song on our mp3.com page with the offending bite edited out. We’ll continue to use that site, but only in a limited manner. Mp3.com can go take a flying f*ck at the sun.
Listen to the song and tell us if it has anything whatsoever to do with the film. We simply liked the emotion it shows and created a piece of music it fits into. It is just one sound bite out of many in that song. The bites come from a variety of sources (like the famous Hockey Rage Trial).
This is our art. Mp3.com needs to keep their hands off.
