Rev. Dorothy Whitaker knows the reach of the Lord. She sang this traditional song in a New Orleans style. Jason Abernethy's conga playing gives the song extra pep.

Truly great old-style gospel and certainly Christian singers (singas!) from the Denver metropolitan area.
This band showcases some incredibly talented Denver singers on two CD's, Mommy sings God's Love Vol 1 and Old School Church Vol 1. Instrumental music is mostly by keyboardist Chuck Abernethy, who produced the CD's. MSGLV1 was released in Dec., 2008. OSCV1 was released in Sept., 2004.

Story behind the song
Dorothy has the most beautiful soprano voice, but she was a bit under the weather when she showed up at my house one evening before her choir rehearsal at Jordan A.M.E. Church in Dever, 2004. She chose this Christian folk song because it was in an alto key, and she certainly brought life to it. Her voice is perfect. As part of the Mommy Sings God's Love Vol. 1 CD for children, we had fun with the accordian synth voice.
