Fugue-ish

I began this with the intent of writing a fugue, but inspiration took a different turn. You can still here fugue-inspired parts recur throughout the piece.
[the following is copied and pasted from my main page] As a composer, I'm pretty much a composer on the side. When I have an idea, I write it down and go with it, but I don't focus all my musical energy into being a composer. I actually go through phases, or "seasons" as I would call if, of composing. I may compose very solidly for a few months on end and then not compose a thing for months on end. I am very much passionate about the compositions I do write. I also begin virtually every composition with pencil and staff paper, only transferring it onto an electronic medium (such as MakeMusic(tm)/Finale(tm)) as it becomes a finished product.

Story behind the song
I started this piece with the plan of writing a fugue, but I ended up writing it in whatever direction I felt compelled to take at the time. I wrote this on a grand staff with four individual voices in mind, but no particular instruments at all. It's not physically possible to play on a piano with one person, so this would make a nice piece for someone with a chamber ensemble who enjoys arranging. I am well pleased with its uniqueness. Fugal/canonical themes occur as does other thematic material. It really has to be listened to rather than described.
