Another Waltz

A rather lengthy waltz in A major.
[the following is copied and pasted from my main page] As a composer, I'm pretty much a composer on the side. When I have an idea, I write it down and go with it, but I don't focus all my musical energy into being a composer. I actually go through phases, or "seasons" as I would call if, of composing. I may compose very solidly for a few months on end and then not compose a thing for months on end. I am very much passionate about the compositions I do write. I also begin virtually every composition with pencil and staff paper, only transferring it onto an electronic medium (such as MakeMusic(tm)/Finale(tm)) as it becomes a finished product.

Story behind the song
When the opening came to me as a "musical idea" and I immediately started writing this piece, I also, out of habit, immediately wanted to title it. So, I just thought to myself, "It's just another waltz," and so became the title. It's basically comprised of a relatively short-lived A section in A Major, a longer B section in A Minor, a B' section in A Major, and what might best be described as a cross between an A' and Coda. The last few measures increasingly accelerate. The idea was that, because of the length of the piece (10+ minutes) and overall rhythmic repetition, I needed something to grab the audience's attention so that they could enjoy the ending without letting it pass them by before they know it. Likewise, if people were to dance to it, the acceleration would throw them out of step, and they would be able to pay special notice to the ending.
