A Song for my Negotiated Public Performance called 98/91
Acoustic, rock, vocal
hello! Thanks for visiting my page and my music, I hope you enjoy!
(I'm aware that the quality of some of the songs themselves are below par but the recent stuff is much better!)
Story behind the song
I wrote this song for a show I'm directing at the moment called '98/91', that's about the Miner's Strike in '84.
This song is a metaphor/story of a miner's life, before and after the strike.
Lyrics
You had me put down as a worthless stone,
Whilst I was breaking my spine,
Pushing rocks with my bare hands,
Forfeitting all the joys and past-times,
Replaced with lots of dirt,
That I can not wash.
Fatigued I know that I'm getting old,
And I never saw the coast,
My eyes aren't used to this sun
To the tunnels we are the ghosts.
Tick-tock time to change,
But I remember when,
I forgot,
The Colour of The Sky
So forget it, no, I will not go,
And you can't make me stay,
Come on my brothers, we've found one another,
Don't let 'em tear away,
Hold my hand,
Come on let's make our stand,
For the,
Colour of the Sky
The Colour of the Sky,
You had me put down as a worthless stone,
But no I will not go,
Can't change ebb and flow,
This just goes to show,
How sore it is to grow.
