A Rainy Day Song
Artist picture
Timeless rock and roll with touches of R&B, soul and blues, and a voice you won't soon forget.
Blues wrote his first “official” song at the age of 5, and he hasn’t stopped since. Drawing from the rich history of rock, blues and R&B, Blues’ songs sound at once familiar, classic, and fresh. On his new release “Restoration”, Blues and producer Dan Strain have crafted a sound that compliments and supports Blues’ rich, soulful voice. The songs are written from a very personal place. However, many of the songs like “Let You Down”, “Learnin’ How to Live”, “You Have Touched Me” and “Kindness” touch on universal themes that resonate with the listener's own experiences.

Story behind the song
The Dawn is just a rainy day song. I was looking at what a great life I have, but still there was something inside longing for more. There were dreams that seemed so far away and impossible. There were things inside that felt like they were dying. Sometimes we get glimpses of what perfections looks like, but, we live in this imperfect world. This can cause a lot of tension within us. I have a hope for a perfect world to come. This song is a cry to be sustained through this imperfect time until the light returns and all is as it should be.
Lyrics
THE DAWN Gregg Lyne © 2003 BluesTunes Sittin’ here on my couch It’s kind of dark and dreary out And the rain’s fallin’ down Thinkin’ about my life I’m so thankful for my boy and wife And I should be satisfied But deep down I feel this pain And sometimes I bend under the strain They say when it rains it pours And it’s been raining for days They say it’s darkest before the dawn And it’s been dark since you went away I’m just waiting for the dawn I don’t know why I feel so bad Guess I’m thinkin’ bout the dreams I had That seem so far away And I understand That you hold it all within your hands And my soul should be at peace But deep down I feel this pain And sometimes I crack under the strain They say when it rains it pours And it’s been raining for days They say it’s darkest before the dawn And it’s been dark since you went away I’m just waiting for the dawn I need you now Sustain me ‘til the dawn (3x) ‘Cause I still feel this pain And sometimes I break under the strain They say when it rains it pours And it’s been raining for days They say it’s darkest before the dawn And it’s been dark since you went away Rise up, Rise Up I’m just waiting for the dawn Rise up, Rise Up I’m just waiting for the dawn Rise up, Rise Up
