The conflict in Northern Ireland has calmed considerably since the 1980s when this song was written. Unfortunately, the theme of partisan strife and the destruction it brings to people's lives remains current today.

For as long as I can remember, music has been a passion of mine. While playing for a live audience is great fun (most of the time), I've always had a special interest in recording -- both the technology and the process itself. These days I don't play gigs any more, but I enjoy writing and recording music for others to hear online. Hopefully, you'll find something you like here. Story behind the song
Recorded on the decidedly lo-fi Fostex X-15, this song features some cheesy 80's Yamaha digital synth sounds and a low-end drum machine rhythm track. My thanks to Craig Hansen and Steve Schultz for their help in arranging and recording this song.
Lyrics
The sun comes up on this shattered town The streets are empty, all the shades are drawn There's dust on the rubble and the bombed-out cars The dust and despair of these undeclared wars And it's dawn, dawn on the street of tears The sun is shining, but the sky is black There's a man in the shadows with a gun on his back Like his father before him, he fights for the cause On a street full of fire in a land without laws And it's dawn, dawn on the street of tears A woman's looking out but she won't open the door There's news on the street but she's seen it all before She's tired of the slogans on the crumbling walls Tired of the killing, tired of it all And it's dawn, dawn on the street of tears Where are the children, on what street do they play Did they follow the soldiers, did you send them away They say what's left of the world will be left to the meek But what's left of the children who lived on this street And it's dawn, dawn on the street of tears
