An Underneath Red classic (for those who know!), redone slightly differently.
Acoustic, rock, vocal
hello! Thanks for visiting my page and my music, I hope you enjoy!
(I'm aware that the quality of some of the songs themselves are below par but the recent stuff is much better!)
Story behind the song
I wrote this song many years ago for my old band Underneath Red, and actually found a recording I did last year on my computer. I polished it up and finalised it, and thought it should go straight onto here!
The actual song is about someone hating a woman I think (it's been so long I can't actually remember the full story), and the title came from a line - that was scrapped in the filtering process - that said "your words sting like a Wasp".
Lyrics
I knew what you were going to say,
Because I knew what I had done,
Summer has blown away,
And the winter has just come,
Creeping up my neck,
Hairs on their end,
Thrown off the path,
And into the deep end.
Step on up to the stand,
And show me your wounds,
Give me everything you've got,
But you've got nothing to lose.
Hold your tongue 'cos I know,
What hurts can pass your lips,
I'm running as fast as I can,
To get away from your tricks.
Nervous with fear,
I'm always looking around,
You're in every corner,
Of my room that's round.
Step on up to the stand,
And show me your wounds,
Give me everything you've got,
But you've got nothing to lose.
