Touching song about a Native American (Indian) girl I knew a long time ago.
Story behind the song
We knew and liked each other through grade school and it was really obvious to me that she liked me very much. We sat at the same desk. That's where she actually gave me an arrowhead one day which I still treasure. We were dance partners in our Christmas pageants. She used to follow me around on the playground, but "To my shame," as the song says, I was embarrassed by her and I turned away, "'Cause she was just an Indian maid."
Dear Lillian Jones, If you're out there somewhere and you see this, I'd love to see you now and talk with you. Pat Foreman
