While I was never bought my way out of “hard time” via soft soul-searching, I spent many an hour in the kind of 50-minute sessions which this song lovingly describes, and indeed, I knew a few people who had made such direct deals with their local law enforcement bureaucracies. “i need it bad”? This is my ballad for the Everyman, of which I am one of three billion. Really, only on the surface it’s about sex, or lack thereof.
