Story behind the song
This is my life story, so it was pretty easy to write. I guess it always is when it comes from something real. My mother wanted to believe my father's "Liquor Coated Lies" because she loved him so much.

Mama waited up on daddy late one night in Seventy Eight.
Believin' he was coming home only running a little late
She stared out the window for the lights that never came
Cause he'd promised no more drinkin', and that he'd really changed
But, I could hear her crying through her bedroom door
That same familiar sound I heard a hundred nights before
She finally went to bed feeling lonely and betrayed
Cause only one side of their bed would have to be made
