Story behind the song
It blew me away to see the Gulf War (Part Deux) blowing full-speed ahead, as if through some pure might of will. Disturbing. Additionally, seeing the 'Few-The-Proud" splayed on a 24/7 stream of psychobabble, complete with splash screens and theme songs for their noble cause.
The splitting of air by an automatic rifle as the soldier leapt from the Humvee is the basis for this tune, the dat-um-dat-um,da-da-tum of the snare was the rhythmic pattern that bowled me down (shock-n-awe), and became the crux of the hook.
Lyrics
DATUM
gotta get 'em
get 'em good
get 'em while gettin's good
irrespective of the facts at hand
Psychobabble-flooded land
We draw a line in the foreign sand
Broadcast To and From the Promised Land
MINE COMES WITH A TRADEMARKED THEMESONG, MAN!
perception is reality
effected by causality
sanction my morality
defiling my neutrality!
so what if there are tiny twists?
White Lies never hurt anybody!
Facts are merely little words
Derived by some corroboration
As long as the story's straight,
Surely, to avoid a greater abhorration
I'd like to think I know who's worse
~ a Turban or
~ a suit and tie
Hidden Agendas, or
Higher Purpose
Surely ALL the answers lie
Night and Day, or
Day and Night
The "worlds so bleak" or
The "future's bright"
Bad guys wear black,
Good, dressed in White
Is that so wrong?
Is that not right?
Hmmmmmmm.....
LET'S THROW SOME STONES FROM OUR GLASS HOUSE TONIGHT
perception is reality
effected by causality
sanction my morality
defiling my neutrality!
so what if there are tiny twists?
White Lies never hurt anybody!
Facts are merely little words
Derived by some corroboration
As long as the story's straight,
Surely, to avoid a grave abomination
I'd like to think I know who's worse
~ a Turban or
~ a suit and tie
Hidden Agendas, or
Higher Purpose
Surely ALL the answers lie

Wow! Great job on the production and some killer guitar work. I think there is room for improvement with the lead vocals but I still think the song is worthy of 5 stars. Roxie
