A loose adaptation of 'O To Be Like Thee!' by Thomas O. Chisholm
progressive pop jazz blues country christian contemporary melody celtic orchestral bible sax musette
Many genres, Contemporary Christian, Lyrics, instrumentals
I write my own songs ;) I have a very diverse taste in music, from Pop to Classical, including Rock, Folk, Jazz, Country, World Music (Celtic, Romanian), Old Timey Stringband/Bluegrass, and Latin. All these styles are in my Christian Contemporary catagory. I usually write the music first, and then put words to the music. Though I don't sing good enough yet, I though I would put my instrumentals out along with my music. Generally, I think my music/lyrics are getting better, being more skilled now than when I started.

Story behind the song
It's been about a week (late Nov. 2008) since I got the music, and then, the words for this song. I somehow wanted the music to go with a message about wanting to be like Christ. I looked up in the hymn book and got some ideas. One of these, "O To Be Like Thee" (words by Thomas Chisholm) matched my music rhythm in spots. So, this is kind of a loose adaptation. It was a whole lot easier to adapt than to start fresh on the words (which could still happen). I have several chorus variations, and that is still up in the air, so to speak. The chorus comes from the experience at the Baptist church baptisms on Sunday night. Before the baptism, there would usually be some testimony of how that believer came to believe. A lot of times the Pastor would ask for evidence of a changed life. The children would say something like they treated their siblings better. The young mothers or fathers might talk about having more patience. The most popular thing said was that people felt more at peace. This was the usual thing, though the more dramatic conversions do happen
