In the area of poetry and prose I use various styles, especially freestyle and address various subjects. Inspirational is one of my main themes.
Poetry has been a love of mine since I was very young. I dabbled in it in High School, but I did not do any serious writing until after my daughter was born. I began taking a writing course via mail correspondence. Taking care of a baby and a house did not leave much time to study and write so I did not complete the course. It seemed there was never enough time to devote to seriously pursuing my writing. However, I did have surges of inspiration in which, sometimes I would write six or seven poems within a couple of hours. Often, I would revise these within the next few hours after writing them. Some poems did not seem to need much rewriting and editing them became a task I could do very quickly, too. Eventually, I typeset these into several volumes, though I did not publish the volumes. I did publish one or two via the internet, but did pursue this either because I did not have the time and money to devote to copyrighting everything and I had so much material saved up. More recently I found out about "Creative Commons," licensing and this provided an avenue for safe publishing without cost. It also consumed very little time. Much of my poetry is inspirational, though I have written poems on everyday subjects quite often.

Story behind the song
I was listening to a poet online who suggested writing one poem per day. Since I had not written any poetry in a long time, I thought this would be a good way to get back into that avenue of my art. This poem is the firstfruit of that idea.
Lyrics
Pen in hand (my stylus) -- earbuds pushed in -- I listen and listen more to poetry podcasts realizing moments turned into hours, hours succumbed to days and days to years since I inked any such lines. Upon advice from one podcast author to create poetry daily and searching for a muse -- contemplating a life -- my own recent issues realizing moments turned into hours, hours succumbed to days and days to years since one such as myself allowed love the likes of which, was not something shared freely with everyone anymore, save only a certain few safe souls, as one might say. Friendly enough I was, yes, with neighbors I engaged thus, not allowing room for closeness to get too close. Loved ones who were, long lost in my heart, I realized the need to love such ones again wholly, unafraid. Conversations, not a few I had with the Creator in the name of the Son about such matters, finding myself falling short of conversations with those long lost in my heart and of being pleasing to my Lord. Unbelievable, it seems that one so imbued with selfless love before, and trusting wholly in my Lord, or so thought I -- should fall prey to fear -- fearing to love those such as share the same bloodline on whom my eyes could realize familiar, though have not beheld for so long a time. So how then can my heart entwine itself around those my eyes of this fleshy bodily state can not possibly look upon nor my mind eye envision, even the triune God? Leaf after leaf I turned until I came to 1 John and read again, the one who does not love does not love God. Shaken, I began to awaken, my heart repentant. Sorrowful pleas formed on my lips whispering petitions to my Lord. Watery droplets warmed my face ran down caught by tissue after tissue. Inside showers of blessing ran down my heart catching the watery sprays from the Spirit realizing a joyful cleansing rejoicing in the Divine my spirit dancing delightfully giving thanks to my Creator in the name of the Son, Christ Jesus, his shed blood making possible forgiveness of my soul, my soul forgiving such as those of the same bloodline as myself, freeing my heart to begin -- to love again -- to become perfected in love being thankful that Christ Jesus who authored my faith will finish such work as he started in one such as I. -- Marilyn Renee Monet
