My life seemed to mirror the parable, 'The Prodigal Son'
Artist picture
Someone in my church small group used a phrase that I had never heard before. The phrase started a whole series of events that brought me to writing Christian lyrics. I don’t play any musical instruments, so I am dependant on others to put my thoughts to music. Through my writing, I am learning much about myself. I believe it is drawing me closer to a real, loving God.

Story behind the song
We had an associate pastor, Jason Mack that presented a sermon on "The Prodigal Son" in which he compared his walk with Jesus with that of the parable. I realized that my own journey was strikingly similar.
Lyrics
Prodigal One (Vr1) Born God’s child, innocent and free With Him all my needs were fulfilled That was not enough for me I was looking for the next thrill (Ch) Just like in the parable I am the prodigal one Praise the Lord For through his grace It is never to late to go home (Vr2) I walked away, my back to the cross Spent my fortune on wine and greed Never thought of what I lost I woke up broken and hungry (Ch) (Br) Lost now found Dead now alive I am embraced by God’s loving grace (Vr3) I crawled home with head bowed down Begged forgiveness; got salvation I was not shunned; but welcomed With a feast; a celebration (Ch) X2
