Story behind the song
I though that doing a blues number would be 'easy'. It started out with a whole back-story attached to it, being a legendary, seminal Aussie blues artist but I couldn't keep up the facade :) This is the cleaner version, i.e. it doesn't have the annoying "old 78" scratch over the top of it. So yeah, a piss-take. About kangaroos (a line most Aussies will know), wombats, the awful Cane Toads, and of course, what blues number is complete without some dysfunctional relationship? P.S. think less 'Clapton', more 'McCartney' when you listen.. it might be more palatable :)
Lyrics
I said tie me kangaroo, Tie me kangaroo down, Yeah yeah I said tie me kangaroo, Tie me kangaroo down, Yeah yeah Them ol' Caney Toads are comin' And my woman's left town I said take my wombat Take my wombat home Yeah yeah I said take my wombat Take my wombat home Yeah yeah Said them ol' Caney Toads' a comin' And I'm here sittin' on my own...
