Story behind the song
The music to this song was written by Pat Leap. He plays rhythm guitar on the track. The lyrics are about his ex-girlfriend. We sat around for an entire evenening trying to come up with appropriate words to fit the situation. Several hours later, this is what we came up with, and Pat was gracious enough to let me use it on this album. Thanks to Rob Perry for his incredible lead work.
Lyrics
Still Pretending
By Pat Leap and Steve Jenkins
So this is another day
Where I try to make your memory go away
There's nothing I can say
To make you come back to stay
This day, hey hey
Try to read between the lines
Thinking about when you were mine
Just stuck here wasting time
And you know that I'm not fine
(CHORUS)
Still pretending
That loves not ending
And you'll come back one day soon
Just wishing on the moon
Still pretending
That loves not ending
And I know that somehow I
Can find a way to change your mind
(2nd)
Staring at pictures of you
Trying not to come unglued
Doing anything I can
To try to understand
Why did you have to break us up
Turn it all to wasted love
I walk with you, my head above
Not coming to push and shove
(CHORUS)
Still pretending
That loves not ending
And you'll comeback one day soon
Just wishing on the moon
Still pretending
That loves not ending
And I know that somehow I
Can find a a way to change your mind
(3rd)
Staring into your eyes
Wanting to walk an eternity
Through your mind
Try to find
The love that we left behind
(CHORUS)
Still pretending
That loves not ending
And you'll comeback one day soon
Just wishing on the moon
Still pretending
That loves not ending
And I know that somehow I
Can find a way to change your mind
