Electronica. Not so much a 'praise and worship' song; more of a performance piece, but touching in its own way, nonetheless.

Michael Blue is an independent solo artist specializing in an eclectic blend of '80s Electronica, Soundtrack, and Alternative Christian music, all wrapped up in
Welcome to Michael Blue's SoundClick page! I have been writing and recording since the early '80s and have recorded literally thousands of tracks. Mostly scratch demos of simple song ideas. My primary instrument has always been some form of synthesizer or keyboard workstation, though I also play guitar, bass, saxophone, percussion and others. Essentially, my "style" is hard to pin down. It has been described as a blend of good old-fashioned '80s electronica and modern acoustic ambiance, with some orchestral thrown in for good measure. This generally makes for an unusual sonic experience, without the overworked "trying to be different" feel. I have been actively involved in the worship community at my local church on and off since the '80s. I have also been involved in other church-related musical endeavors, including a local-access cable TV program called KDOT. Currently I am working on my first Indie release; "MUSE" (EP), and hope to have it completed and ready for distribution by late 2010. This site gives access to some "behind the scenes" listens to some of the scratch demos that will eventually be reworked into tracks for the project, as well as some other demos and scratch pieces I'm working on. I use SoundClick as a tool to distribute for critique as well as to work with non-local artists on projects. You can be sure to see updates fairly often in addition to a fairly unusual mix of music, from electronica to pop to film soundtrack.

Story behind the song
This is a collaboration between myself and Joe Gauthier (Deep Water Man). Joe had these terrific lyrics collecting dust, so I asked if I could "adopt" them, and he agreed. I did tweak the words a bit, but not too much. Overall, I'm happy with the result...Some of my favorite work is with other people's lyrics! This is a scratch demo and is unfinished, unpolished and lacking some in musical variety. It will be reworked and may make an appearance on my "Echoes" project.
Lyrics
Alone in a crowd Everything stays the same A thousand people passing by But no one knows my name Alone in a crowd Their eyes are filled with blank stares All are hurting inside But no one seems to care (Chorus) Alone in the crowd Oh what else can I do? I can open my heart And just let Jesus shine on through Alone in the crowd Oh what else can I say? I can open my mouth Tell them He came to seek and to save (inst) Alone in a crowd Pain and sorrow at every turn Hope is fading fast When Will they ever learn Alone in a crowd It is killing me I must spread the Good News That all can be set FREE! (Chorus)(rpt) Alone in the crowd Everything stays the same A thousand people pass me by And no one knows Your Name -- ©2008 Joe Gauthier and Michael Blue A ChristianSongwiters.org Forums collaboration
