When No Ones Looking

The internal battle many of us face.
Artist picture
Someone in my church small group used a phrase that I had never heard before. The phrase started a whole series of events that brought me to writing Christian lyrics. I don’t play any musical instruments, so I am dependant on others to put my thoughts to music. Through my writing, I am learning much about myself. I believe it is drawing me closer to a real, loving God.

Story behind the song
Sometimes I just go through the motions of being a Christian. I do what others expect, rather than what my heart leads me to do. Eric who wrote the music and my wife Allison recorded this demo.
Lyrics
When No One’s Looking © James Dickie/Eric Herzberg, 2007 V1 I don’t want anyone to know So I manage to put on a show Go to church every Sunday Sit down front And make sure they see me pray ch I can’t hide from you The real me comes through My heart is revealed When no one’s looking What I hold dear Becomes crystal clear When no one’s looking V2 I’m tired of this game I play It’s been so very long I’m afraid Afraid to meet you again Please forgive This phony part time Christian (Repeat ch) Br Tear off this disguise That I’ve been wearing, Lord I have been lost In my charade Find all of me, dear Lord And wrap me in healing grace
