This is a site to get songwriters in Oldham (UK) to display their wares. We hope that it will become a central point for local songwriters to come to upload their songs and to check out what other songwriters in the area are up to. If we can build this community we would like to organise events etc. that will be of general interest to like-minded people. We welcome any suggestions that will improve the site.

Story behind the song
A love song. Dennis' lyrics are definitely 'old school' in the style of the old standards. His songs could have been performed by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Nat 'King' Cole etc. Martin, having played for many years in Piano Bars, felt an affinity to the style and wanted to write a 'meandering' tune.
Lyrics
CONVERSATION OVERHEARD Conversation overheard May not be quite what it appears But whispered in anothers ears Be rearranged, completely changed Conversation overheard And so passed on from mouth to mouth The north can soon become the south The gist of it can twist a bit Even with a good intent Sometimes the facts get bent And so the innocent, uncomprehending Credibility lending to ...... Conversation overheard And so the rumour gets around The truth is lost, a lie is found - It's absurd. So if you hear that I don't love you That I think so little of you Baby, baby don't believe it Don't believe a word. Even with a good intent Sometimes the facts get bent And so the innocent, uncomprehending Credibility lending to ...... Conversation overheard And so the rumour gets around The truth is lost, a lie is found - It's absurd. So if you hear that I don't love you That I think so little of you Baby, baby don't believe it Don't believe a word.
