Story behind the song
I wrote this song in 1995, after a dream I had about my late father who passed away in December 1987.

Today I decided to take a walk thru my old neighborhood, just me and my dog lookin thru the window of my old house. Couldn't believe what I saw when I knocked on the door, he said come on in, sippin on his drink with that same old grin. Angels By My Side, these tears that I cry, Angels by my side. You don't know me sir I use to live here before, I was just taking a walk thinking about my memories once more. You see sir, you look so much like my father, as I started to say, it was eight years ago that we burried him today....Angels by my side, these tears that I cry, Angels by my side..... Lookin on over at him, the tears welled up inside, as they started to fall, the old man even cried. He said, it's ok to hurt you know I'll always understand, it's not easy walking thru this world with no one to hold your hand. Angels by my side, these tears that I cry, Angels by my side. As I turned and started to leave, he said, thanks for stopping by with a tear in his eye, and when your out tonite look to the sky and remember that Angels are by your side.
