Story behind the song
Butterfly ballots and the Florida debacle of 2000, in which many liberal, elderly Jewish voters in Florida were confused by the notorious "Butterfly Ballot", and mistakenly voted for conservative Pat Buchanan instead of Al Gore, throwing the election to Bush.
Lyrics
"The ballot was a 'Butterfly', what the heck is this!? I'm seeing all the arrows, but which one goes to which!? I went to punch the paper, that's when it happened .... I tried to vote for 'Gore', and poked a hole in Buchanan!"
