Lithium was a local Montgomery Alabama area metal band who actively performed around the Montgomery area between the years of 1998-2003. This is a page where I have decided to put up these demos of our songs recorded between 2000 and 2003, including some stuff that is just me demoing for the band, as a repository for these old files, so they won't be lost or forgotten. The tapes may die sometime, but the music won't.

Story behind the song
This version of Crystal was the second one to come on The Foxx in Montgomery in 2001-2002, and was recorded at FX Studios in October/November 2001. THE CRYSTAL CONTROVERSY ----------------------------------------- I feel iffy posting this on the net, with all the drama the band incurred when we split....maybe it's not wise, but I feel at this time, things have moved on long enough that I can make my case on this song and it's true origins.... For a long time, within the band, outside the view of the audience, the legitmacy of this song being Hawk's has been questioned quite a lot. I'm here to tell my accounts....these are MY accounts of the song... Sometime in early 1999, me and former singer Zachary Johnson were in a band together called Vehement. Zach was learning some guitar skills from me at the time, and took up well enough to write his own in about 2 months. The opening riff to Crystal/Leslie was INDEED written by Zach, I was there when Zach showed it to me, approximately a year and a half before Lithium with us ever came to be. Zach also had his own lyrics as heard in a demo earlier on this page. When Zach Joined Lithium, we did this song, as Leslie, which did not have the 2 guitar solos of Crystal, so in a way, they ARE 2 different songs, but in another, they are not, because we used Zach's riff for years after he left. When Zach, Daniel, and Bobby left Lithium, we proceeded to use new lyrics to the song, even though Zach SPECIFICALLY told me to tell Hawk NOT to do that song, and I recall telling him everything was off-limits except "Hollow" (which later became "Heavy Air") according to Zach. However, we proceeded to do Crystal anyway. Both song's lyrics had to do with girls... Zach wrote his about a gal who he had a crush on in high school, and she broke his heart... Hawk wrote his about a gal he was dating who died by the hands of a drunk driver...... Either way, the second incarnation of Lithium I was involved with got the writing credit in Copyright, but I have felt sh** ty about this for years indeed, as it was just plain wrong that we ousted Zach, since he did, Indeed, provide the riff for this song.
