Hello this is Jay Burks, I'm a singer guitarist from Fairfield, Ohio. I just moved here from Springfield, Ohio a few months ago and I'm looking at joining a cover or original or mix band. These songs come from my Metal/Rock side, but I'm into various styles of music. I'm 30 years old and I've been singing for 17 years.

Story behind the song
I wrote this song back in '97. I just got married but still couldn't forget about my first love. It bugged me so I wrote a song about it. This is the first song I ever completely wrote myself and one of the very few songs I ever completely wrote without any help. The title "Winter Sky" was sort of a metaphore for a coldness that sort of numbs yourself from pain. Sort of a reach but I guess it works. It was recorded in '99-'00 and I was never happy with the final piece. Someday I'll re-record this song and try to get it right.
Lyrics
I close my eyes, Thoughts are escaping before I conceive them I'm falling down, Drifting in further and faster and farther away, away Reality seems to be far to surreal for me. But now that it's gone and it's time to move on, make the best of the worst of my life. I'll let it go but I won't let it show that it's cutting through me like a knife. But I'm believing that there's a reason, There's no escaping you. I'm not forgetting and it's just letting the pain seep right through. What are you? A painted up picture of red painted porches and blood stained doors. I see a light on I wonder if I can come in to you. A man he is waiting my soul he'll be taking today. Flying up high in the cold winter sky as my sanity slips away. There's nothing more in this world to die for I lived all of my life yesterday. (Chorus) - (Solo) Flying up high in the cold winter sky as it's starting to numb all my pain. Trying to find what's erasing my mind leaving splintering scars to remain. (Chorus)
