When studying for my BA degree in music with the Open University, in each assignment of the first course we were asked to arrange a four part harmony in the style of Bach. But then when one time we were merely asked to arrange the harmony I was so pleased as I felt I could harmonize it in my own style and this is what I did. However, I was marked down for it as the tutor wrote that "all these secondary sevenths would not have been available in the time of Bach." I didn't argue about it; I should have known that since the melody was by Bach we'd be required to keep it in his style. However I always retained my version and this is it with the melody played first then with the alto part, the tenor part, bass part and lastly all together.
