Story behind the song
I wrote this song when I was 17, and recorded it today. At the time I wrote it I hardly listened to anything but Blues music. My main influences were Colin James, Gary Moore and Jeff Healey. I've gotten back into Blues recently which is what encouraged me to finally record this song after 16 years.
Lyrics
SLEEPING WITH THE BLUES (C Matthews) So cold and lonely, staring at the wall, I can feel a tear in my eye, I can see your face, I'm hoping that you'll call, but you're gone and I don't know why, You said you'd thought about it, for a long long time, and there was only one thing to do, I never talked about it, what was on my mind, couldn't say that I needed you, and now I'm... All alone, just counting the hours The clock strikes midnight as the night pays it's dues Love is in the air, feel it everywhere, But tonight I will sleep with the blues I walked around for hours, but I can't find, can't find no release for my pain, I've sat around for hours, losing my mind, I feel I'm going insane, Now I've thought about it, for such a long time, and there is only one thing to do, I need to talk about it, what's on my mind, oh baby I'm needing you, but now I'm... All alone, just counting the hours The clock strikes midnight as the night pays it's dues Love is in the air, feel it everywhere, But tonight I will sleep with the blues -solo- All alone, just counting the hours The clock strikes midnight as the night pays it's dues Love is in the air, feel it everywhere, But tonight I will sleep with the blues All alone, just counting the hours The clock strikes midnight as the night pays it's dues Love is in the air, feel it everywhere, But tonight I will sleep with the blues (c) Copyright Craig Matthews 2008
