Life was so easy then
everyone was a friend
we didn't lock our doors in the 60's
We played outdoors all day
we didn't come home til dark
mom patched our clothes
and dad did the chores
we caught fish in the lake
I had a fiend named Bill
he lived upon a hill
brothers made fun of him but what do they know?
He had the neatest tree house
his daddy had made it for him
he had a pony and a sister
I had a lot of fun with them
we camped out in our tent
almost all summer long
we never spent all day watching tv
we knew where the blackberries were
mom made the best cobbler
we scratched our arms and stained our clothes
we never got bit by snakes
Mom bought my first guitar
a 5 dollar harmony
action was so darn high it could slice bread
I mowed lawns to pay for lessons
from Herman Vandor voort
he wore a wig and he smoked pot
down at the Oddfellows shall
Life was so easy then everyone was a friend
we didn't lock our doors in the 60's.
