Fantasy-themed rock ballads and anthems
Our demo CD "The Dark Before Hope" draws on the work of Tolkien, especially the Lord of the Rings epic. Bethany, lead vocalist and lyricist, is building up a body of songs about other books she was moved by as well--she's a fantasy writer with a penchant to wax eloquent in many forms about literature. Daniel, primary musician and current producer, plays around on his bass and sometimes a guitar to find musical hooks to build more songs around.

Story behind the song
Words of prophecy about life coming to the desert and various fantasy images of encounters and epiphanies and the need for water.
Lyrics
The oasis I fall by holds a black sky and snakes The crowd here lost all masking busyness But something emerges from the curses in the stories And something holds in the mess You are the God who's been haunting all our dreams You are the man I meant to meet With all this wondering to find some goal to seek You were the point of light to be watching. Dirt in the water reveals true ugliness A covering too heavy for those with grief to wear Did it take a dead king to make a God, from man Or do I just want to be part of that goodness, broken Life will bloom again In the deserts we live in Let the stones and sand bloom With flowers we never knew.
