Jeff's music, at its very core, is a tale of emotions. A song, with all of its technical underpinnings, should tell a story or display a feeling. It should connect with the listener deep in their heart. And that can only be done if the song is deep within the writer's heart as well.

Story behind the song
This song originates from an experience attending a funeral. As I was in the cathedral, the back doors opened and the family walked down the center hallway with the casket. Although they were all very saddened, their march reminded me of a parade. And in heaven, this is a time of rejoice, not suffering. So the juxtaposition of these two seemingly different events was very interesting to me, and that was a major element of these lyrics.
Lyrics
Open your eyes And witness their beliefs We can act disguised But no one can share their grief The handles hold a thousand pounds, are never used again A wooden box so beautiful, it never gleams again Just close your eyes to see The parades in heaven Tell me your name And tell me why you're here Kneel down and pray And show them that we care The weeping from the altar heights The drinking from the cup of life The weary voices from his lips Emotions that we can't dismiss Just close your eyes to see The parades in heaven Just close your eyes and watch them march Into oblivion Into the cloudy skies Into the father's arms
