My name is Guido van de Wijdeven and I’m a 23 year old musician / producer from Goes, The Netherlands. I started playing the trumpet when I was only 4 years old. Ten years later, because of jazz and pop influences, I changed to drums. I studied drums with Chris Strik (jazzacademy), Bob Langenberg (rotterdam conservatory), David Weiss (utrecht conservatory) and Eric Hoeke (roc albeda). As a main drummer I play with Dutch reggae band Misty Basement, Tomas Delfgaauw Quartet, The Bonnie Situation, Lighta & Thundarebels and my own GvdW Group. As a trumpetplayer I also played with Tapharheejl and currently De Willies, Boom Steady Few, Smoke, Cheap Harmony, and the backing band for Lady K-Wida; PoorManFriend band. The last few years I’ve been getting more and more into reggae and hiphop music and that inspired me to start producing my own ‘riddims’. Therefore, I started studying bass and piano, next to drums and trumpet. I ‘ve taken piano lessons from Hannie van Veldhoven, Anja Sinke, Ge Bijvoet, Bert van den Brink and Stefan Schmid. I’ve had the chance to play with / and learn from great musicians like Ben Gerritssen, Cor Bakker, Denise Jannah, Thijs van Milligen, Stefan Schmid, Randal Corsen, Peter Bergman, Bert van den Brink, Hugo Dirkson, Rekesh Dukaloo, Frank Jonas, Eric Bal, Joel Groenewold, Ellen Helmus, Marcel Karreman, Rik Mol, Maurice Andre, Theo Mertens and many more... I did preshows for Osdorp Posse, Relax, Richie Spice, Alpha Blondy, The Heptones, The Selecter, Shaggy, Lady Saw, Marcia Griffiths, Ce'Cile, Amsterdam Klezmer Band, Pete Philly, Brainpower, Alborosie, Postman, Cmon & Kypski, Basque Dub Foundation, Beatbusters, Jsan & the analogue sons, Rude Rich & The High Notes, Luie Hond, and many other great artists. I played at big events like Parkpop and Two Seven's Splash, Grote Prijs van NL, . I did shows in De Melkweg, Heineken Music Hall, Scheldetheater, P60, Rotown, Tivoli, De Piek, Doelencafe, de Groene Engel, SJU-Huis, Cinecity and many other cool places. I performed in The Netherlands, Germany, Spain, France and UK. I recently finished certificate courses in midi and audio recording, and mixing and producing at Musician University. I am going to explore producing more the coming years while I study at the Berklee School of Music in Boston.
