Lyrics
Old Major had a vision, A utopian belief
The horses, pigs, geese and sheep could all get along in peace
So he called for the beasts of England and Ireland to unite
To drive mankind from the farmyard and install some animal rights
Napoleon and Snowball soon assumed command
The smartest pigs in the farmyard, they had the perfect plan
They taught the others how to read and write and laid down seven rules
No animal would every be killed and they’d share out all of the food
Now Boxer was a workhorse, he did more than his share
And though him maxim was to work hard, the others didn’t seem to care
They sold him off to the knacker’s yard when he couldn’t work no more
They sold him off to the knacker’s yard for some whisky in the jar
There are pigs up at the table, they’re standing on hind legs
There are pigs up at the table, now they’re sleeping in their beds
All animals are equal, they wrote it on the wall
But some animals are more equal than others
Snowball planned to build a windmill, but Napoleon drove him out
He then became a scapegoat, every time things didn’t work out
They started work on the windmill, as Napoleon now decreed
To bring the farm electricity and to set the workers free
And Squealer was his sidekick, he spelt the rhetoric out
And although his words were hollow, he never gave cause for doubt
Napoleon grew ruthless and Squealer changed all of the rules
The pigs moved into the farmhouse and began to look like humans too
There are pigs up at the table, they’re standing on hind legs
There are pigs up at the table, now they’re sleeping in their beds
All animals are equal, they wrote it on the wall
But some animals are more equal than others
